He grabbed
the woman, an adjunct professor
as she entered her brownstone
near Columbia University
at 12:20 a.m.
Armed with a knife he pushed his way in.
He sodomized the woman's mouth
and also the mouth of her roommate,
a female PhD candidate in narrative cryptographs.
He robbed and anally raped a male,
a visiting grad student, and friend.
During a lapse in the assailant's attention
the male guest fled thru a window
and stumbled into police on Amsterdam Avenue.
The officers, John Jay College Criminal Justice graduates
called for and received backup
including a Morningside Heights ambulance.
The assailant, a Mr. Epps, of west 157th
leapt from an upstairs fire exit,
broke his leg, and was arrested.
He was charged with robbery,
assault, burglary, unlawful
imprisonment, sexual
misconduct, rape
and criminal possession of a dangerous weapon.
Mr. Epps is not connected to Columbia University
nor is he on the janitorial staff of any of the following institutions
of higher learning: Yale, Brown, Amherst, Harvard,
Penn State, William & Mary, NYU, The New School.
