He unwrapped the gift to reveal a very
Precious gift inside. It was a snowglobe
Model of his town, every detail complete,
Down to the post office boxes and friendly
Neighbors frozen In mid-conversation.
He was the only thing missing from it.
The love of his life looked so cold, almost
Frozen. He held her in his arms, shook
Gently and she exploded in a cascade of
Snowflakes, each a distinct and intricate
Pattern. And so she scattered as he stumbled
To catch the last bit of her on his tongue.
Who could say where I floated, and who
Wanted to know. I tried not to melt, tried
To send letters, but the words were no
Longer there, nor the hands to have them.
My heart had a snowflake in each chamber,
So I wrapped it and sent it out to post.
