POEM WRITTEN ON COLD MEDICATION
cristin o'keefe aptowicz
Sounded like a fun idea. The bell of my face
filled with the sleeping doves of illness, my tongue
fuzzy with down. The cold medicine didn’t really
clear anything out, as much as it sharpened the fog,
static still static, only clearer on a different channel.
Last night, we ate Thai food to help clear my head.
It didn’t work, and this morning, I shat fire.
